Spain EA. The spanish government has given authorisation to use the full 50 to 52 Mhz band to ham radio stations beginning on Nov 24th. It's the end of the 50 to 51 Mhz limit. Also, now it's possible to operate from the previously forbidden zone, but with a 10W power limitation and maximum antenna gain of 6db, and at a maximum height of 35 m a.g.l. Restrictitions will be automatically removed when no more TV repeaters remain in service. Xavier, EB3CZS (UKSMG ann.) 28 Nov. 2007
Germany, DL. Hi SIXers, I'm happy to announce, that TV stations Grünten (JN57) 48260,4 kHz and Bantiger (JN36) 48250,0 kHz went QRT. For us in the southern part of DL, West-OE and most of HB9 two major sources of permanent inband video are gone. This opens up a completely new world into those directions which were really hard work in the past. On the other hand, the 6m community lost two valuable indicators for band openings into Central EU. For that reason, as an alternative, please check 48239,6 (JN39) and 49739,665 (JO70) during next sporadic E season as indicators for possible openings. Good DX and 73s... Cocos Island, TI9. Update. Latest news de Lance, W7GJ, dated 2007-11-07: I received an email from Andy, DH8WR, and he says he is looking for somebody to operate EME on the TI9K DXpedition in February 2008. Do you know anybody who would be interested in going to operate the moonrise and moonset times for them? If they already have a good HF+6m amplifier such as the ACOM 1000, all they need is a good yagi and they are already all set up for 6m EME! I would appreciate any thoughts you may have! At this time in the solar cycle, it is clear that they will not make many contacts on 6m unless they are QRV on EME. MNI TNX and VY 73, Lance (Arne´s SM7AED notebook) 28 Nov. 2007 15 Feb. 2008
Gambia, C5. C56YK will be on from the Gambia February 11-March 6, 80-10M, with an FD4 antenna on 80 and 40 and a spiderbeam on the other bands. He will also try 160 and 6. The operator will be ON7YK. Caribbean DXpedition 2008. "Thank you" to those who shared your thoughts for a Caribbean DXpedition next year. I have decided to go to both V3 and HK0 San Andres between June 19 and July 6. I am returning to V3 because last year's trip was too late in the season to feed the European need. HK0 demand is high everywhere so that was easy to decide. This DXpedition will have one...and only one...focus - SIX METERS. Small rental cottages are already reserved on the eastern shore of both islands. The budget for this two-island trip is a bit staggering and beyond my pocket book, but I am going to "go for it" believing sufficient financial support will come. Mick McManus W1JJ will be the DXpedition Treasurer collecting support monies,. Mick will also be doing QSL Manager duty as well. Pat W5OZI has agreed to once again be my Pilot Station because Internet access will be limited...as best. The station at both locations will be a KW to 7 elements within 30 meters of the Caribbean shore. Website www.qth.com/k7bv/caribe2008 will appear in the next day or so and grow as more details are firmed up. And...as always...may the Es be with us! 73, Dennis Motschenbacher K7BV (UKSMG ann.) 22 Nov. 2007 6 Jul. 2008

Sable Isl., CY0. Duane, WV2B, has announced that a group is in the early stages of planning a DXpedition to Sable Island during 2009. Currently, there are four operators mentioned: Duane/WV2B (CW/SSB), Rich/AI5P (CW/SSB), Dick/VE1AI (CW/SSB) and Scott/KA3QLF (RTTY/SSB). The callsign to be used is CY0ZZ. Activity will be on 160-6 meters and they plan to have a minimum of 3 stations on the air. A dedicated 6 meter station is a possibility. QSL routes are: AI5P/CY0 via AI5P, CY0ZZ via KA3QLF or VK4AAR for VK, JA, etc.. stations. The team is looking for sponsors to help them cover the large cost of chartering the Britain Norman Islander aircraft which must be used to land on the beach at Sable Island. The cost of this charter alone will be nearly $10,000. Further information is available on their Web site at: http://www.sabledx.com (OPDX Bulletin 818) 23 Jul. 2007 2009
